Do What You Love so You Can Love What You Do FOREVER!

I have always held this belief that when we were kids we had some inkling or notion of the things that inspired us and even gave us some insight into who or what we wanted to become when we were older. Then as life would have it, we grow up and away from those things as we learn about pleasing other people, making lots of money and looking good. Our childhood inspirations get shelved somewhere as we tackle 'making it' in the real world. And then around the thirties we begin asking ourselves why we are unhappy with our career, our partner, even our life.
I began coaching people to take a look back and start from there to find out what their passion/purpose is.

Now as I find myself working in the youth market, I want to encourage teens and young adults to follow their bliss and create a path carved out from what inspires them, interests them and speaks to the things that matter most.

What are your thoughts on the connection between childhood aspirations and adulthood passions.  I know for me when I was a kid, I wanted to be a school teacher. What I was really about was being up on a 'stage', engaging with people, sharing information and enjoying it. I wish someone had captured those things and had me create a plan for my career or my life from that.

Instead I got caught up in doing something that others thought was a good fit for me and at the same time I was concerned with making a lot of money and looking good!!

I wonder where my life would have taken me had I started with looking at what I loved as a kid and worked from there

Choosing a career?

I have been working with kids for the last two years and I have really been inspired about their zest for life. I have had many great conversations with them about their lives and more specifically who or what they want to be when they 'get older'. Almost all of them knew exactly what they wanted to do. Time and time again I found myself being distracted by my ongoing notion that we all inherently know what we want to do with our lives; what we are passionate about but we get taken off course as our childhood turns into teenhood and then adulthood. Then, before you know it your dreams become vacant parking lots where no-one hangs out anymore. You've even forgotten how to get there. Your life has become boring, uninspiring or you just feel that things are not right.

Well I am here to help you get back on track. Help you find your way back to the parking lot to claim your space and thrive. And if you are just getting started with your life decisions then I am here to help you make the best decisions for you that speak to your heart and dreams that will fuel you into tomorrow.

So that all being said . . . please write a few lines about your thoughts on the matter. Please also let us know about what you career you are in . . . one that makes your heart sing and feel alive or one that just gets you by.

If you still choosing a career what are some areas that you are considering and WHY?

Passion of a 3rd grader

I subscribe to a daily email that I receive from InspireMeToday.com This website has posts from people all over the world which are called Inspirational Luminaries. Gail Goodwin is the founder of this website and she says that she created this site as "I have always been a seeker of information, especially that of a spiritual or motivational nature."

This morning I opened up my emails and as usual there was my email from InspireMeToday. Sometimes I do not read them but today I noticed that the name of this luminary was Zack!! I clicked on the link and I read a story about Zack who was in 3rd grade. He decided to act on an impulse, a gut instinct (what I call inspired action) to follow something that he felt strongly about. I will not go into the whole story here suffice to say that it is well worth reading. I have included a link to the story at the end of my post.

I followed my intuition and took some inspired action by deciding to write about the email I received since what Zack had done in his life speaks right at the heart of what I am about - looking to our childhood passions (the things we loved to do when we were kids) and then using those in the life that we lead now as adults.

I invite you to read his story and then ask yourself"

1) What did I feel strongly about when I was growing up?
2) What inspired action did I take?
3) In my life today how can I find that same inspiration?

Pleased post a comment and let me know your comments. If you prefer you can email me directly info@lifecoachrocks.com

LifeCoach

Life coach rocks is back again.

I have just finished reading Scott Whittig's book called HOLY IT. It was a short, concise and easy read. He covered some very interesting topics related to finding and creating your IT in life. I love the way he shared his own personal experiences about some of the struggles he had to overcome in order to create his IT and finally bring the book to fruition.

As I was reading though I noticed that I was still struggling to discover my  IT. To this end I was still out on a limb. I then began thinking about all the terrific books I had read that talk about passion, purpose, and a dream life -  finding it and living it. The finding it part had still eluded me somewhat. I was stuck on how do I discover what my IT is? I hadn't found any good method that I could use to begin to create my IT.

Now I know about meditating, writing down my desires, creating possibilities, using a dream board, allowing the space to just "be" in order to open up . . . I think you know where I am going with this. There are some really great tips and methods that you can use that will give you a peek into living an inspired life.

BUT here's what I keep coming back to . . . HOW DO I FIND WHAT IT IS? How do I wade through some of the mental anguish to find what it is that I really want to do with my life; what my passions are and how I can bundle these into something called a career.
